The holiday season is an exciting time. While many look forward to spending time with family getting presents, many seniors don’t have family to spend time with, or may not get a present this year. In 2003, Home Instead Senior Care began Be a Santa to a Senior to help seniors in need.

Be a Santa to a Senior partners with local non-profit and community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. The company then works with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their various locations. Each senior’s gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to a Senior bulb.

To help a senior in need, find a participating Be a Santa to a Senior location. Then, remove a bulb with a senior’s gift request from the tree. Once you have purchased the requested gifts, place the bulb and the gifts in a designated box.

Since 2003, 65,000 volunteers have helped to distribute 2,000,000 gifts to over 750,000 seniors. To find a tree near you or to make a cash donation, visit their website: www.beasantatoasenior.com.

As a not-for-profit organization, EdenHill values help from the community. Donations provide for our residents at all levels of care and fund our community outreach programs like our Memory Café.
