We are two weeks into the new year and most of us have already given up on our resolutions. According to Strava, January 8th was Quitters Day 2021. What is Quitters Day? It is the day most likely for people to give up on their new year resolutions (around 80%).
We are keeping the momentum going here at EdenHill Communities! We are determined to start American Heart Month (February) with a head start.
Combat the Post-New Year Slump
At EdenHill Communities, we are combatting the post-new year motivation slump. Today marks the start of our Super Bowl Walking Challenge, and the goal, while steep, is 100% achievable.
EdenHill residents and team members alike are partnering up and going head-to-head with the individual goal of walking 250,000 steps in 18 days. According the Mayo Clinic, the average American walks 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day. We’re looking to increase our daily step county by nearly three-and-a-half times that of the average American.
Benefits of Walking
It’s no secret that exercise of any kind can help reduce your risk of common health problems. Try adding just 30 minutes a day to your routine, you’ll love how good you feel!
Walking can lower the risk of:
- heart disease
- high blood pressure
