As we all hunker down in an effort to “flatten the curve” of the COVID-19 spread, we at EdenHill Communities continue to restrict visitors unless they are essential Healthcare providers.
As of March 27th, Comal County now has its 9th confirmed case of the Corona virus and its first fatality. New Braunfels is under a “Stay at Home” order and all non-essential businesses are closed. As a Healthcare provider, our employees are considered essential and we continue to provide the important service of caring for our residents. All employees and essential healthcare providers are temperature-screened upon entering the building. We currently have no COVID-19 cases at EdenHill.
We strongly discourage our residents from leaving our campus. We are providing supports in our Independent Living to help with ordering groceries and having them delivered.
We’re thinking creatively to keep your loved ones’ spirits up during this challenging time. In our Independent Living we distributed “Corona survival kits” last week, complete with Corona beer, lime, salt, (and information regarding infection control practices!) We also distributed a “don’t worry be happy” package. We offered a balcony concert to residents to provide entertainment while still practicing social distancing. The concert made the front page of New Braunfels Herald Zeitung newspaper today: http://herald-zeitung.com/multimedia/collection_db880d38-6e1f-11ea-8fbe-77682c09f477.html#3 .
We are broadcasting on our internal channel to our Assisted Living and Healthcare residents. We have regular inspirational messages going out from our chaplain, interactive Bingo being broadcast to resident rooms, as well as our Wellness coordinators giving virtual exercise classes.
Our Leadership Team meets every morning to reassess our current situation, evaluate our response and plan for the future as COVID-19 spreads. We have instituted the recommended guidelines and actions from the Local, State and Federal health agencies. We continue to communicate with them regularly to stay current.
We will post regular updates regarding this situation to our website and on Facebook. Please direct all questions to Terry Jackson, Director of Independent Living aat 830-500-2355 or tjackson@edenhill.org.
