As many of you are aware, Governor Abbott issued an order last week related to the opening of Texas in response to COVID-19. Today is the big day, no more mask mandate or capacity limits across our state.
How will this impact life at EdenHill?
EdenHill has a variety of living options for residents. Those individuals living in our Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods all fall under the guidelines of Texas Health and Human Services. We must maintain compliance with their regulations as related to COVID-19. Life as they know it will continue relatively unchanged for these folks. Thankfully, many of these residents have been vaccinated and they are already receiving visitors from ‘essential caregivers’. Our staff who care for these individuals are being tested for COVID-19 regularly. In addition to COVID tests, our staff will continue wearing masks, practicing physical distancing and wearing appropriate PPE as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.
In our Independent Living area, 95% of residents chose to get vaccinated! We are grateful to have already opened our campus to visitors for Independent Living Residents. Seeing loved ones provides immeasurable benefits for our residents and we welcome family members back with open arms! As of last week, we began opening visitation to include overnight guests in our Independent Living. We are awaiting clarification from the Governor’s office regarding gatherings larger than 10 people, as that particular order was not officially rescinded.
Although the Governor issued the order rescinding mask-wearing, EdenHill will continue our policy of mask-wearing and physical distancing. The exception will be for fully vaccinated Independent Living residents who are gathering together in small groups. For these activities, mask-wearing will be optional.
Every decision we make keeps the best interests of our residents in mind. Unless we receive different recommendations from the CDC and our regulatory agencies, we will continue to follow very strict infection control policies and remain diligent in protecting those we serve.
Our COVID team, of which the Resident Council Presidents are a part, will continue to re-work policies during this evolving pandemic. We will share updates with our residents, their loved ones and the wider community as our policies change.
Out team is committed to continuing to keep EdenHill a great place to live!
